Before you friend me

Make sure you're someone I know and/or talk to regularly. The communities I'm a member of can be viewed in the links below and you're welcome to join them, but I don't collect kudos and I don't engage in social networking.

If anyone who does know me has been rejected, it's probably because I don't recognize your handle or avatar. Just post a reminder in the comments field and I'll rectify the situation.

In addition, I'd like to request that any images posted in comments be no larger than your avatar. Yuku doesn't allow me to remove them without deleting the entire comment.

The Blathering

  1. Research

My big project has been a sci-fi with a working title of The Epidemic, but while tackling fiction with hard science, my brain likes to take a break now and again in the form of medieval fable or fantasy.

The plot of the most recent one unfortunately reads like an episode of Doctor Who. It's tempting to cheat and insert a character as wholly ignorant of life in the Dark Ages as myself, but for it to be plausible I need to yank the time travel elements in favor of historical context, necessitating more than the usual amount of research I expend on short stories.

Below are links to some sites that should help explain what kind of man my main character would have been in the middle of the fourteenth century.

Am Baile - Highland History & Culture
    Durham University Department of Archaeology
    Internet Medieval Sourcebook
    British History Online
    eHistory Archive - Edward III
    Royal Historical Society
The Online Medieval & Classical Library
    Land, Sea & Sky
